Things to Do in Colorado Springs for the Holidays from Your New Home in Monument

Coming home for the holidays is even more special with the new homes in Monument at Home Place Ranch. The seasonal calendar in this region is abundant with fun things to do in Colorado Springs and Monument. Here are some of our top recommendations for festive entertainment not far from Home Place Ranch.

Holiday Markets Galore

Shopping is one of the best holiday activities, and the abundance of crafters and local artisans in this region make gift shopping one of our favorite things to do in Colorado Springs.

The Commonwheel Artists Co-op Holiday Market, featuring handcrafted gift items by talented, local artists, runs through December 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at the co-op in Manitou Springs.

Find more craft shopping at the 17th Annual North Pole at Tri-Lakes Arts & Crafts Fair, hosted by the Monument Hill Kiwanis Club. The event features live holiday music performed by D38 choirs and bands throughout the day and visitors can also enjoy the Tri-Lakes United Methodist Church Cookie Walk. The event takes place at Grace Best Elementary School on Saturday, December 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mark off the foodies on your list at the Holiday Food & Gift Festival at the Norris Penrose Center in Colorado Springs on December 1, 2, and 3. Enjoy wine and distillery tastings, free parking, and more than 150 booths to shop from. On that same weekend, Trails End Taproom in Monument will be hosting the annual Trails End Christmas Market, with vendors, hot beverages for kids and adults, and plenty of live music.

Make Winter Memories with Ice Skating

Another quintessentially wintertime thing to do in Colorado Springs is ice skating at the outdoor skating rink in Acacia Park. Tickets can be purchased at the rink and skating is available through January.

If it’s too chilly outside, there are also several indoor ice rinks in Colorado Springs where you can lace up and enjoy time with the family. Public skating sessions are available at Broadmoor World Arena Ice Hall, Sertich Ice Center, and Cadet Ice Arena. Or, stay closer to your new home in Monument and visit the Monument Ice Rinks for their public skate sessions.

Colorado Springs Festival of Lights Parade

One of the most popular things to do in Colorado Springs every holiday season is the Colorado Springs Festival of Lights Parade, taking place this year on Saturday, December 9 at 5:50 p.m. More than 100 parade floats, all decorated around the theme “Sounds of the Season,” will line up and travel down Tejon Street, starting at St. Vrain Street and heading south towards Vermijo Street. This family-friendly event often garners a crowd of as many as 70,000 people, so plan your day strategically and dress for cold weather!

Monument’s Annual Tree Lighting

Your new home in Monument will place you in the perfect location to enjoy Monument’s Annual Tree Lighting, a festive day-long event on Saturday, December 2, that features food trucks, crafts and activities, live music and visits from the big man himself, Santa Claus!

There will also be collection stations for nonperishable items for a food drive as well as a collection spot for new, unwrapped toys for Santa on Patrol. The event begins at 2 p.m. at Limbach Park and Santa makes his grand entrance on a fire truck at 5 p.m.
